How to watermark a PDF
- 1
Add your PDF
Drop in the file. It's processed on your device and never uploaded.
- 2
Set up your watermark
Type the text, then choose the size, color, angle, opacity and whether to repeat it across the page.
- 3
Download
The watermark is stamped onto every page locally and the file downloads to you.
Mark a document without uploading it
Stamping a PDF with DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or your company name is meant to protect a document — so uploading it to a random website first defeats the purpose. pdfnoupload draws the watermark onto every page in your browser with pdf-lib, so the file you're trying to control never leaves your device.
Full control over how it looks
Choose any text, set the font size and color, tilt it to a diagonal, dial the opacity up or down, and either center it or tile it across the whole page. The watermark is written into a new copy of the PDF and downloaded instantly — free, with no forced branding, and working offline once loaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to add a watermark?+
No — the watermark is applied in your browser. You can verify there are no uploads in DevTools → Network.
Can I control the opacity and angle?+
Yes. Set the opacity from faint to solid and pick a horizontal or diagonal angle, plus tiling to repeat the text across each page.
What characters can the watermark use?+
The watermark uses a standard PDF font, so Latin (Western) characters work best; unsupported characters are skipped.
Can I remove the watermark later?+
The watermark is drawn into the page content, so keep your original as the clean master if you may need an unmarked version.
