or click to choose — your file is processed locally and never uploaded
How to unlock a PDF
- 1
Open the protected PDF
Drop in the file. It's read locally and never uploaded.
- 2
Enter the current password
Type the password you already use to open the file.
- 3
Download the unlocked copy
A password-free copy is generated on your device for you to save.
Remove a password you already know
If you have a PDF you can open but it nags you for a password every time, you can strip that protection — but only if you already know the password. pdfnoupload does this entirely in your browser: you provide the password, the file is decrypted locally, and a clean copy is produced on your device. Nothing is uploaded, so a confidential document never reaches a server.
For documents you're allowed to unlock
This tool is for removing protection from your own files, where you legitimately know the password. It cannot crack or bypass unknown passwords. The unlocked copy downloads instantly, carries no watermark, and the whole process works offline after the first load.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the password?+
Yes. This tool removes a password you already know — it does not crack or guess unknown passwords.
Is the file uploaded to unlock it?+
No. Decryption happens in your browser; the file and password never leave your device. Check DevTools → Network.
Can it open any locked PDF?+
No. Without the correct password the document cannot be decrypted — by design.
